According to the Plan, by 2020, China shall establish a relatively complete R&D, design‑manufacturing and service system for marine equipment. The design and manufacturing capacity for key marine equipment shall reach the world‑advanced level. China shall fully master core technologies for marine power systems, deck machinery, cabin equipment, communication‑navigation and intelligent systems and equipment, form a complete product portfolio of major products, and build brand products with strong international competitiveness. Leading enterprises shall achieve large‑scale and specialized development and grow into powerful system‑integrated suppliers of marine equipment.
Suzhou Cosc Marine Machinery Co., Ltd. states that while outlining development opportunities, the Plan also sets key priorities for China’s marine‑equipment supporting industry. In its view, there remains a notable gap between the current status of China’s marine‑equipment supporting industry and the objectives laid down in the Plan. To effectively advance the implementation of the Plan, China’s marine‑equipment supporting industry shall focus on the following tasks: First, continuously strengthen R&D of key core technologies and enhance the independent‑innovation capacity of China’s marine‑equipment supporting industry. Second, vigorously carry out quality‑ and‑brand building and improve the system of supporting products. Third, consolidate the fundamental capacity for key components and raise the R&D and manufacturing level of key equipment and materials.
Fourth, improve capabilities in intelligent manufacturing and system integration. Transform from production‑oriented manufacturing to service‑oriented manufacturing, shift from supplying equipment to delivering general‑contracting services for system integration, and evolve from providing individual products to offering turn‑key overall solutions.
