On June 17, the company’s first‑built 6S46MC‑C main engine passed successful acceptance and delivery. With a cylinder bore of 460 mm, a rated power of 8 280 kW and a rated speed of 129 r/min, the main engine is classed by CCS. It will be installed on a 47 500‑DWT bulk carrier built by Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group for Jiangsu Huayuan Logistics Co., Ltd.
The 6S46MC‑C is the smallest‑bore main engine manufactured by the company so far. Featuring compact dimensions for easy engine‑room arrangement, it can be widely applied to 45 000‑49 500‑DWT bulk carriers.
The successful construction of this main engine marks the first‑time cooperation between our company and Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group. As is known, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding is a large‑scale ship‑building enterprise centered on Yangzijiang Shipyard, New Yangzijiang Shipyard and Changbo Shipyard. It boasts over 50 years of ship‑building history with an annual shipbuilding capacity of more than 1 million comprehensive tons.
To further explore the market, our company broke the tradition of producing main engines with a minimum cylinder bore of 500 mm and actively developed the new‑type 6S46MC‑C.
