The Company Successfully Fulfils Its First‑Half‑Year Production Plan

2013.05.29

On June 30, with the successful acceptance and delivery of two 6S50MCC main engines, the company completed the delivery of 53 main‑engines totalling 865 000 horsepower in the first half of the year. This accounts for 51% of the annual production plan, representing a 39.5% year‑on‑year increase over the same period last year. Having achieved half‑year completion of half‑year targets, the company presents outstanding achievements as a tribute to the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Driven by the mandatory implementation of new emission standards together with substantial difficulties in main‑engine supporting supplies, the production environment in the first half of the year was extremely challenging. To fulfil the production targets set at the beginning of the year, the company intensified efforts in safety, quality, production, supporting‑part procurement and on‑site management, and continuously strengthened its capacity to meet demands from new and existing customers.

Through two Work Safety Month campaigns, the company steadily raised employees’ safety awareness, strengthened process control for special‑type operations, advanced safety management with emphasis on practical implementation, and tightened supervision over external construction work to safeguard production activities.

The company newly promulgated regulations on quality assessment, rewards and penalties, aiming to raise the quality awareness of all staff, standardize working practices and improve product quality. Meanwhile, the comprehensive roll‑out of trace‑source‑based on‑site management has greatly upgraded the production working environment and effectively improved engine‑building quality and efficiency.

The company has consistently satisfied shipyards’ engine‑in‑yard acceptance requirements. For two 6S50MEC main engines built for Taizhou Kou’an Shipbuilding and Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, final finishing work was completed within 4‑5 days after main‑engine acceptance and delivery. The engines were shipped to the shipyards on time to meet their engine‑in‑yard schedule, setting a new company record for the shortest consecutive engine‑delivery cycle.

At present, main‑engine delivery proceeds smoothly. Ship‑owners, classification‑society surveyors and shipyards have all given favourable evaluations on the overall quality of the main engines.
